Every Diwali the chowk is lit the old way: clay diyas along every ledge and step, filled and trimmed by the housekeeping team through the afternoon, and lit together at dusk.
This year a sarangi player from the old city takes the north steps from seven, and the kitchen serves a Diwali thali under the arches from eight — twelve dishes, sweets from the lane behind the house, and a glass of something warm.
Supper is included for guests staying that night. Places for visitors are limited to forty and are taken at the desk on +91 8188829090.
